Vivo X Fold 6 Finally Ships Global. The Battery Got Worse.

Vivo's X Fold 6 just became the company's first foldable to ship outside China. Four months after its June launch in its home market, the phone is now available globally—starting in Europe at €2,199. That's roughly $2,400. For context, the same 12GB/512GB configuration sold for 8,999 yuan in China, which converts to about $1,342. The markup is 64%.

That's not the only downgrade. The global version also ships with a 6,900mAh battery instead of the 7,000mAh cell in the Chinese model. It's a small trim—probably a difference in how rated versus typical capacity gets listed—but it's still technically less. And unlike the Chinese launch, which offered four memory configurations (up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage) and three colors, Europe gets exactly one option: 12GB/512GB in Horizon Blue. Take it or leave it.

The rest of the spec sheet stayed intact, and it's legitimately competitive. The X Fold 6 runs MediaTek's Dimensity 9500 Super Edition chip, features an 8.02-inch internal AMOLED display and a 6.51-inch cover screen (both 120Hz), and packs a ZEISS-tuned triple camera: 200MP main sensor, 50MP periscope telephoto with 3x optical zoom, and 50MP ultrawide. Charging hits 80W wired and 40W wireless. The phone weighs 228 grams and measures 4.4mm thick when unfolded.

That 200MP camera and sub-5mm thinness are rare in the foldable space. So is a battery north of 6,500mAh. Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, which costs the same €2,199 in Germany for a 12GB/256GB model, ships with half the storage and a much smaller battery. Vivo's advantage is hardware. Its disadvantage is software maturity, retail presence, and the fact that most buyers outside China have never heard of the X Fold series.

This is also Vivo's first real test of whether a specs-first strategy works in markets where Samsung and Apple dominate mindshare. The X Fold 5 never left China. The X Fold 6 is betting that camera megapixels, battery capacity, and thinness matter more than brand recognition. Whether that's true depends on how many people are willing to spend flagship money on a company that's been invisible in foldables until now.

The phone is available now in Europe through Vivo's official store. No word yet on availability in other regions, though India was reportedly scheduled for an October 6 launch.
